this animal IS a sustained runner, always has shown that style. When LATE energy distribution comes up against an above the norm pace of race, they are OUT of it and have to move late. THAT is the way this colt runs, NOT the rider forcing him to run that way.
I am shocked no one else is even pointing to this prep. Its in KY, its back on dirt. Crazy.

  • chasingmytale via Disqus · Great read Brian. I like the comment from Ron M as I definitely needed the laugh. Especially after having to eat some humble pie when Madtap ran up the track. I guess I should've known better than betting a horse coming back in two weeks. I mentioned the two horses I was concerned about beating him was Cupid and Creator. I guess having your 2nd and 3rd picks run first and third isn't bad. I agree with RM as I thought American Dubai or Siding? would challenge for the lead. I previously mentioned its as if BB hypnotized the opposing connections. Afterwards, told his jock to go to the lead as the rest of the speed will try to rate off of you. Congratulations to the connections of Cupid. · 15 hours ago

In the Grade 3 Razorback Handicap, Upstart made his eagerly-anticipated return to the races a successful one, coming from far off the pace to prevail by a length.Read More
This horse can go longer. He looked like he was beat then kicked into another gear and dug in for the win. I was impressed.
Sunday's 2nd race (1:00pm PT) from Santa Anita Park is a $30,000 Maiden Claiming event for 3-year-olds traveling seven furlongs on the main track. #2 TAIMA THE HAWK (4-1) chased and faded in a straight maiden turf sprint Feb 14. So I only ended up with about 899 pictures. Here are some from the Big race http://s1064.photobucket.com/user/Oaklawn2016/library/Rebel?sort=3&page=1 (Hopefully the link works) They are phone pictures, so not the best quality. Hopefully you still enjoy them c: I also have a bunch of pictures from the Razorback & Azeri if anyone is interested

Another pretender bites the dust. That is what happens when horses win Stakes Races with slow speed figures. They cannot be trusted to be consistent on a race to race basis. Chess Champ, he did not give him a bad ride. The bad ride was when he won the race prior. When a Jock lets a horse drop back almost 20 lengths, then comes 8 wide on the turn. Then wins going away, has nothing to do with rides or much more. The field in front of him collapsed. Unless you go by the name of Forego, you only get lucky once.
Jockey gave him a terrible ride today. He lets Cherry Wine AND Creator get the jump on him, and then lets them go on the outside, so he has to wait to start his move until it's too late.
I have zero emotion for the presidential election, but plenty when it comes to absolute stupidity. But I couldn't agree more that it's a meaningless list and a fairly mediocre bunch this year.
3/20: Curragh Race 7 @ 5:25. This colt will be facing off against Coolmore's Bravery and Claudio Monteverdi and the Bolger trained Stellar Mass amongst others in a 3YO Maiden. I believe he is from the same tail-female line as Taghrooda and Estimate.
Can't even begin to imagine what their barn is going through today. RIP Kyriaki and Demonica.
Happy Birthday to my favorite retiree💋🎉
Really proud of Upstart. That was a great way to start off his year!!
I am sorry to say that i never have paid attention to this in the past. But how a final leg/stepping stone to the Kentucky Derby,at a major league track. How this does not carry 1 G1 status,is absolutely a sham to the game. Also to the establishment that rate the races.

  • Ferrisjso26 · It's still certainly the least prestigious of the six 9 furlong preps. Since Grindstone in 1996 this race has produced absolutely nothing and until it does this race won't join the big 5 preps. I will admit though this prospective field is a pretty good field and might actually be better than one or two of the big 5. · 11 hours ago
WOW!!!!!! What a race I'm so glad that Cupid won (: but he's not the only Gray in the field, in the Arkansas derby watch out for whitmore and Creator or even cherry wine I wish Gray sky was in 2nd tbh but hopefully those 4 grays go to the ky derby
Faster than a Ferrari or Buggati!
Zenyatta and Azeri are among the very fine fillies and mares who have shipped to Oaklawn Park from Southern California over the decades and captured important graded stakes. Now trainer Peter Eurton hopes that Kyriaki will soon join such esteemed company when she contests Saturday's Grade 2 $350,000...Read More
